The event will include keynote speaker Arthur Wiknik, Jr., a Vietnam War Veteran that participated in the final assault of Hamburger Hill and author of the book “Nam Sense: Surviving Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division.” Mr. Wiknik has also been featured on the History Channel’s “Vietnam in HD” series, the Discovery’s Military Channel program “An Officer and a Movie” with Lou Diamond Philips where he discusses the 1987 Vietnam War movie Hamburger Hill, as well as his experiences in one of the most notorious battles of the war.

Also, for the 39th anniversary of the battle for Hamburger Hill, Lionsgate films released a Hamburger Hill 20th Anniversary DVD, where Mr. Wiknik was given the opportunity to provide commentary and pictures for the special features. Mr. Wiknik’s unit was involved during the last three days of the battle and he is proud and honored to have fought alongside men of the 101st Airborne's 3/187th who bore the brunt of the fighting and took the heaviest losses.
“I look upon Vietnam as a defining moment in my life. I appreciate life so much more,” said Arthur Wiknik, Jr. regarding his experience in Vietnam.
The Chamber will also present its annual Steve Schiff Award and its Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez Award, in Honor of the Veteran of the Year. The banquet will take place on Saturday, June 1st, at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown with a 6 pm reception, and a dinner program beginning at 7 pm.
